Japan’s foreign minister to attend G7 meeting about Ukraine on Friday

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese overseas minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will attend a Group of Seven (G7) assembly scheduled for Friday to debate and coordinate responses to the Ukraine disaster, the overseas ministry stated, as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine entered its ninth day.

In a press release on Friday morning, the ministry stated Hayashi will attend a G7 assembly in Brussels by way of teleconference.

“We’ll trade views on easy methods to deal with (the present scenario in Ukraine) and plan to strengthen the G7’s coordination over the matter,” the ministry stated.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began final week, triggering the most important assault on a European state since World Conflict Two. 1000’s are thought to have died or been wounded and Russia’s economic system has been rocked by worldwide sanctions.
