O’LEARY, P.E.I. — An investigation is ongoing into what police known as racist and antisemitic graffiti painted on the O’Leary Curling Membership between April 25 and April 26.

West Prince RCMP launched the investigation after receiving a criticism on April 26 about offensive graffiti sprayed on an outbuilding. Police mentioned O’Leary city workers shortly eliminated the markings.

P.E.I. RCMP media relations officer Const. Gavin Moore mentioned the incident is being handled as hate-motivated mischief. If costs are laid, the courts can take into account the hate motivation when figuring out sentencing, Moore mentioned.

“Incidents like this are disturbing for your complete neighborhood and the RCMP take this very severely. Spray portray racist or antisemitic messages are handled as crimes motivated by hate,” Moore famous.

Police are asking anybody with info to contact the West Prince RCMP at 902-436-9300 or tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
