World Potato Congress Inc announces new President, VP and board director

Following 16 years of devoted volunteer service to the World Potato Congress Inc., John Griffin can be stepping down from his function of President of the World Potato Congress Inc.

Mr. Griffin has been concerned with the WPC Board of Administrators since 2007, serving in varied capacities on the Board.  He has performed an integral function within the development and improvement of the non-profit group over his a few years of service and the WPC Board of Administrators needs him nicely as he continues to give attention to his potato operations in Elmsdale, Prince Edward Island.

In his place, Mr. Griffin is happy to announce that Dr. Peter VanderZaag will step into the function of President and CEO. Dr. VanderZaag has served the World Potato Congress since 2013 initially as an Worldwide Advisor after which as a Director. Peter performed a key supportive function in growing the packages for the previous 3 congresses in China, Peru and Eire.

Peter, alongside together with his daughter Ruth and son-in-law Nick, personal and function Dawn Potato, a big potato farming operation in Canada. Peter has served quite a few roles in worldwide potato analysis and improvement with the Worldwide Potato Heart and as a visiting professor at Yunnan Regular College in Kunming, China.

WPC additionally introduced Dr. Nora Olsen as the brand new Vice-President of the World Potato Congress. Dr. Olsen is Professor and Potato Specialist with the Division of Plant Sciences on the College of Idaho, USA.

The Board of Administrators look ahead to working with Dr. VanderZaag, Dr. Olsen and Brian Douglas of their new management positions.
