Wimbledon: Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski advances to second round
WIMBLEDON, United Kingdom –
Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Australian companion John Friends are off to the second spherical of the combined doubles competitors at Wimbledon.
The fourth-seeded duo defeated Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands and Uruguay’s Ariel Behar 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday to advance in 62 minutes.
Subsequent up for Dabrowski and Friends is the unseeded Brazilian tandem of Beatriz Haddad Maia and Bruno Soares in Sunday’s second spherical.
Dabrowski is the final Canadian standing at Wimbledon after Bianca Andreescu, Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime had been all eradicated in singles play.
The Ottawa native can also be alive in ladies’s doubles with companion Giuliana Olmos of Mexico.
Their third-round match can also be set for Sunday.
