Winnie Truong challenges the beliefs of magnificence in relation to the feminine type. Her apply consists of a labour intensive course of that integrates coloured pencil crayon and minimize paper collage within the rendering of surreal imagery and fictional narrative. Truong’s course of has advanced to incorporate extra play and dimensionality, pushing her two dimension kinds towards the third dimension with constructed dioramas.

Teetering on the wonderful fringe of the true and imaginary, her paper works abstractly take up concepts of nature and femininity, care and help, independence and interdependence. She calls her created beings, “Wimmin Creatures”, they defiantly look away from the viewer rejecting a gendered gaze by their very own company of concealment. Their our bodies are imperfect and decidedly unapologetic.
