RCMP investigating theft of beehive and colony of bees – Canada Police Report

Iris, Prince Edward Island – The Kings District RCMP is investigating after a beehive and colony of bees was stolen from a property in Iris, PEI.

The beehive was one among many at a property on Nice Valley Street. On Might 16, 2022, the proprietor of the beehives reported to police that parts of a hive with an energetic colony inside had been eliminated. A number of items of the hive had been left behind on the scene, together with the highest cowl. The theft is believed to have occurred between Might 11 and Might 16.

“Given the situation, a automobile would have been wanted to take away the hive,” says Sgt. Leanne Butler of the Kings District RCMP. “The hive could seem like weathered wood field. Now we have motive to consider whoever was concerned in eradicating the hive was not skilled in coping with bees – it is rather potential they had been stung fairly badly when the hive was moved.
