U.S. military base in Syria targeted in failed rocket attack

(Reuters) – A rocket assault focusing on the U.S. navy’s Inexperienced Village base in northeast Syria did not hit U.S. or coalition forces, or any tools, the U.S. Central Command stated.

Three 107 mm rockets focused the bottom on Sunday and a fourth rocket together with rocket tubes was discovered on the launch level, about 5 kilometers (3 miles) away, the command stated in a press release. https://bit.ly/3RVqVfe

The Inexperienced Village base was focused final month in violence between the U.S. navy and Iran-backed militants leaving not less than one U.S. navy service member in Syria with a minor harm.

The incident triggered a U.S response that killed two or three militants conducting the assaults.

The Central Command stated it was investigating the newest failed assault, which struck at roughly 7:05 p.m native time in Syria (1605 GMT).

It gave no additional particulars.

U.S. forces first deployed in Syria throughout the Obama administration’s marketing campaign in opposition to Islamic State, partnering with a Kurdish-led group known as the Syrian Democratic Forces. There are about 900 U.S. troops in Syria, most of them within the east.
