Mohammed Khalifa, 39, who grew up in Toronto and left Canada in 2013 for Syria, killed two Syrian troopers on the group’s behalf earlier than his seize by U.S.-backed Kurdish forces in 2019, the U.S. Division of Justice stated in a press release on his sentence.
He was transferred to Federal Bureau of Investigation custody in October final 12 months and pleaded responsible on Dec. 10 to offering materials help or sources to a international terrorist group, leading to dying, the division stated.
