U.S. Congress panel probing Jan. 6 attack to hold primetime hearing next week
The congressional committee investigating the lethal Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol introduced on Friday that it’ll maintain a listening to at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 21.
The listening to, which is geared toward reaching a broad U.S. tv viewers throughout prime viewing hours, would be the eighth and closing scheduled public one to happen, though the committee has advised it might maintain extra in August.
Some committee members, together with Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, have argued that former U.S. president Donald Trump needs to be held criminally responsible for allegedly encouraging the assault on the Capitol by his supporters, during which a number of folks died.
The listening to is predicted to be led by Democratic Rep. Elaine Luria and Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger.
It would deal with Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, particularly between his departure from the rally that preceded the assault on the Capitol and his eventual name for rioters to return residence three hours later.
