U.S. arrests airman in connection with attack in Syria

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A member of the U.S. air drive has been taken into custody in reference to an April assault in Syria that wounded 4 fellow service members, the Air Power stated on Tuesday.
The U.S. army initially blamed the assault in Inexperienced Village in japanese Syria on oblique fireplace, presumably a rocket strike.
It later stated additional investigation confirmed the blasts have been the results of “deliberate placement of explosive expenses” at an ammunition holding space and bathe facility, and officers stated they have been trying into the potential for an insider assault.
The Air Power declined to establish the service member.
“As a part of an ongoing investigation, on June 16, an Airman was taken into custody stateside at the side of the assault in Inexperienced Village, Syria,” Air Power spokeswoman Ann Stefanek stated in an announcement.
“After reviewing the data within the investigation, the Airman’s commander made the choice to put him in pretrial confinement.”
CNN was first to report the arrest.
U.S. army officers say round 900 U.S. troops are working in Syria, primarily coaching and advising companion forces preventing the remnants of Islamic State militants.
