TUI says rise in bookings points to sustained recovery

FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Vacation group TUI recorded 1.3 million bookings up to now 4 weeks, chief government Fritz Joussen informed employees in a letter seen by Reuters on Sunday, pointing to a sustained restoration from the pandemic.
The world’s largest vacation firm had in March reported 8.9 million bookings for the interval stretching from winter to summer season this yr, because the variety of holidaymakers rose towards pre-pandemic ranges.
“Two developments are apparent: bookings have gotten significantly extra premium and they’re being made at a significantly shorter discover,” Joussen wrote to employees. “That is good for turnover, margins and profitability.”
TUI stated earlier this yr that summer season vacation bookings had been approaching pre-COVID ranges on pent-up demand, with a gentle restoration in Britain since restrictions and testing guidelines had been lifted.
