Toronto street to be named after Kyle Lowry
A avenue in a North York neighbourhood will quickly be named after a beloved former Toronto Raptor.
Kyle Lowry Street shall be one of many eight new streets at Don Mills Crossing, a 60-acre web site close to Don Mills Street and Eglinton Avenue East, which is the longer term location of a group hub with new residential, workplace and retail buildings.
Lowry spent 9 seasons with the Raptors and signed with the Miami Heat last August.
The Raptors’ historic 2019 championship win may even be acknowledged with a avenue known as Champions Street, which can “function a reminder of the rewards of onerous work, dedication, and fervour.”
“The brand new avenue names honour people who’ve lived in the neighborhood and made vital contributions via their life’s work – and one non-resident who gained Toronto’s admiration and respect for his position in bringing a serious league championship for town,” a press release from the workplace of Coun. Denzil Minnan-Wong mentioned.
Different notable personalities being commemorated embrace former hockey coach Joe D’Angelo, immigration lawyer Marjorie Hiley, former Maple Leaf Mike Palmateer, writer Paul Quarrington, Olympian Steve Podborski and world-renowned architect Raymond Moriyama.
A street-naming ceremony shall be held on Monday.
