‘This year’s really bad’: Kin Family in Summerside seeing greater need than ever ahead of annual Christmas Appeal
SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Forward of the annual Kin Household Christmas Enchantment, co-chair Sue Gallant stated she has noticed a necessity higher than ever.
“This 12 months’s actually dangerous,” stated Gallant. “The necessity on the market this 12 months is one thing fierce.”
For 73 years, the enchantment has raised cash for the Kin Christmas hampers, offering Islanders with meals for Christmas dinners and presents.
The baskets purpose to assist native households and seniors throughout the holidays who aren’t receiving any assist via every other group.
In 2021, stated Gallant, volunteers needed to wrap greater than 400 kids’s Christmas presents; this 12 months, Gallant stated, might even see an analogous – if not greater – quantity.
