Thai police rescue 59 Rohingya refugees abandoned on southern island

BANGKOK (Reuters) – Thailand had rescued 59 Rohingya refugees, together with kids, from an island who had been deserted by folks smugglers on an island near the Malaysian border, police stated on Sunday.

The Rohingya – 31 males, 23 girls, and 5 kids – had been discovered on Dong island in Satun province, which borders Malaysia, assistant nationwide police chief Surachate Hakparn stated in a press release.
