Tennis: Canadians bounced from Miami Open
MIAMI –
The ultimate two Canadians in singles play have been bounced from the Miami Open Saturday.
Denis Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime each misplaced their second-round matches in Miami.
The Twelfth-seeded Shapovalov was upset 6-3, 6-4 by South Africa’s Lloyd Harris.
Earlier Auger-Aliassime, the match’s No. 7 seed, was upset by Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia in straight units 6-4, 6-2.
It was the opening match of the match for each Canadians after they earned first-round byes.
Shapovalov struggled on serve throughout his match and dedicated six double faults. The Canadian was damaged 3 times within the first set, and one other two occasions within the second.
Auger-Aliassime misplaced serve as soon as within the first set and twice within the second.
Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Que., and Vancouver’s Rebecca Marino have been eradicated from the ladies’s draw earlier within the week.
