Ferry service resuming Wednesday between P.E.I. and N.S. after fire on vessel

WOOD ISLANDS, P.E.I. – Northumberland Ferries Restricted says it’ll resume service alongside its route between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia after a hearth broke out final week aboard considered one of its vessels.

The corporate stated in a launch immediately it’ll start an interim schedule Wednesday consisting of 4 spherical journeys between Caribou, N.S., and Wooden Islands, P.E.I.

The MV Confederation vessel will make the journeys whereas the Transport Security Board of Canada investigates the hearth on the MV Vacation Island.

The Vacation Island was nearing the Prince Edward Island harbour on Friday morning when a hearth broke out in its engine room, forcing an emergency evacuation involving roughly 230 passengers.

Northumberland Ferries says the vessel was towed to shore on Sunday and passenger autos had been eliminated.

Service has been cancelled since Friday morning, and Northumberland says it’ll work with prospects to rebook journeys.
