MARQUETTE, MI – Maxine Kay Jokinen, loving spouse, mom, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, handed away on July 17, 2022 after a prolonged sickness on the Norlite Nursing Heart in Marquette, Michigan. In her last days she was surrounded by loving members of the family who bravely stood by her till the top. She was 80 years of age.
Maxine was a spirited, energetic, radiant and cheerful soul who was universally cherished by all who knew and labored along with her. Maxine was born on January 2, 1942 at Ishpeming Hospital to Walter and Laila Pearce (nee Korpi), although the household lived in neighboring Negaunee, Michigan. In her early years she attended grade college there. The household later moved to Marquette in 1953, when quickly thereafter her father Walter tragically died of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Starting on the age of 11, she then continued college there, receiving her diploma from Graveraet Excessive Faculty. She additionally attended NMU.
