Super typhoon Nanmadol bears down on Japan’s Kyushu island
TOKYO (Reuters) -Storm Nanmadol bore down on Japan’s southernmost important island of Kyushu on Sunday with the Japan Meteorological Company (JMA) warning of gales and excessive waves “like by no means skilled earlier than”.
The 14th hurricane of the season, categorized as an excellent hurricane by the U.S. Navy’s Joint Storm Warning Heart, may deliver report rainfall, the JMA stated, warning of the danger of rivers overflowing and landslides.
Southern Kyushu may obtain 500 mm (20 inches) of rain and wind gusts of as much as 250 km (155 miles) per hour on Sunday, whereas the central Tokai area may get 300 mm (12 inches) of rain, the company forecast.
