CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Scott Porter actually wanted to complete the P.E.I. half-marathon forward of his girlfriend, Samantha Legge.

When Legge completed her race, Porter bent down on one knee and proposed. Cameras snapped and the gang on the end corral clapped as she nodded enthusiastically.
“This Island is particular to her, and I needed to make this second very particular,” stated Porter, when SaltWire Community spoke to the newly engaged couple. “I needed to do it after a race as a result of racing is what introduced us collectively.”
The pair met on-line and found they had been each runners, stated Legge. Their first race was the Fredericton Marathon 10k within the spring.
“We each did very well,” stated Legge. “I used to be tremendous sick – hacking up a lung and had no voice – however we ran, and he caught by my aspect and we did nice, higher than we thought, and we’ve been racing ever since.”
The couple got here to P.E.I. for the race from Rusagonis, N.B., close to Fredericton.
