Severe thunderstorm warning issued for P.E.I.

Surroundings Canada has now upgraded its extreme thunderstorm watch to a warning for Prince Edward Island Saturday afternoon, till 5:15 AT.

The “harmful” thunderstorms might produce robust wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

Rain may fall at a price of 20 to 40 millimetres per hour or greater, the group says, and thunderstorms may create hail the scale of a nickel.

Winds may gust to 90 km/h or greater in thunderstorms.

“Quite a few robust thunderstorms are detected between Borden to Charlottetown to Gaspereaux,” Surroundings Canada stated in a information launch at 3:46 p.m.

“Areas between Malpeque to the nationwide parks to St. Peters Bay will even be affected throughout the subsequent hour. The movement is northward at 20 km/h. Torrential downpours, hail and powerful wind gusts are related to these thunderstorms.”

It warned that very giant hail can harm property, break home windows, dent automobiles and trigger critical damage. Robust wind gusts can toss free objects, harm weak buildings, break branches off timber and overturn giant automobiles.

Intense lightning is probably going with any thunderstorm that develops, it famous.

Heavy downpours are prone to trigger flash floods and water pooling on roads, so Surroundings Canada asks drivers to drive with care.
