Redrawn P.E.I. federal electoral map tabled in House of Commons
CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Federal Electoral Boundaries Fee for P.E.I. has tabled it is proposed adjustments to the province’s federal electoral boundaries within the Home of Commons.
The fee redrew the province’s 4 electoral districts to keep up equal populations in districts. It stated it took into consideration social and geographic components, together with respect for communities of curiosity or id and historic patterns of earlier boundaries.
These standards, together with suggestions gathered at public hearings held from June 7-9, all factored into the report tabled within the Home Tuesday.
John Mitchell, who chaired the three-member fee, stated there shall be no title adjustments to any of the province’s federal districts.
“When drawing the boundaries for the province’s 4 electoral districts, we decided that creating districts with shut proximity to the electoral quota was higher suited on this small province than putting emphasis on equal geographical dimension,” Mitchell stated.
The total report is on the market online.
