RCMP say Tire Businesses Being Targeted in a New Scam
The Cheticamp RCMP is warning a couple of rip-off focusing on tire companies.
Police say on November tenth, it obtained a report of a neighborhood tire store that was victimized in reference to a $5,500 sale of tires. Investigators realized that the enterprise obtained a purchase order order from somebody in Montreal. The native firm accepted many out-of-province requests because the begin of the COVID-19 pandemic and stuffed the order.
As soon as the tires have been shipped and confirmed obtained, they have been informed the cost had been cancelled they usually have been unable to get in contact with the purchaser.
RCMP say they realized this similar purchaser was concerned in related scams with different tire outlets in Prince Edward Island, Manitoba and Alberta, leading to losses of over $20,000.
Police are investigating.
