RCMP in P.E.I. haven’t decided whether charges will be laid in death of teenager
CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Queens District RCMP says no costs have been laid because the investigation continues into the loss of life Oct. 2 of a 15-year-old Abegweit First Nation teenager.
“We’re nonetheless early within the investigation,’’ Sgt. Craig Eveleigh informed SaltWire Community on Oct. 4.
Eveleigh stated Chailo Jadis died after she was struck by a pickup truck in Alexandra whereas attending a bonfire together with about 30 to 40 different youth.
“We had info that there have been youth down on the Wharf Highway and {that a} bonfire had been set, and police made a patrol down there simply to disperse the youth from the world. We made positive that individuals had sober drivers,’’ Eveleigh stated.
