Pfizer, Biontech seek Japan regulatory approval of COVID shot for young children

TOKYO (Reuters) – Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE have sought approval from Japan’s well being ministry to be used of their COVID-19 vaccine to be used in youngsters aged six months to 4 years, the businesses stated in a press release on Thursday.

The submitting follows approval final month by U.S. regulators for Moderna Inc’s two-dose vaccine and the Pfizer-BioNTech three-shot routine for youngsters in the identical age group.

The vast majority of COVID vaccinations in Japan have used the Pfizer vaccine, authorised by regulators for youngsters aged 5 to 11 in January.
