San Antonio-based artist Jason Limon (beforehand) conjures paper sculptures of 18th Century-style robes, organs, and hollowed skulls with acrylic paint. The uncanny buildings entice his recurring skeletal characters in cramped packing containers and funhouse-esque constructions, the place they try and disentangle themselves from their environment. Rendered in muted pigments, or what the artist calls “repressed tones,” the work make the most of the anonymity and ubiquity of the bony figures to invoke emotional narratives. Limon explains:
