P.E.I.’s MDS Coating Technologies receives $10.4 million in federal, provincial funding for expansion

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Slemon Park aerospace firm is increasing, courtesy of economic contributions from two ranges of presidency.
At a press convention on June 19, a complete of $10.4 million was introduced for MDS Coating Technologies (MCT).
The federal authorities is contributing $2.9 million, by Atlantic Canada Alternatives Company (ACOA).
“Aerospace has been a hit story right here in Western P.E.I.,” stated Egmont MP Bobby Morrissey.
The province, in the meantime, is investing $7.5 million – together with a $500,000 grant from Innovation P.E.I.
“We’re actually excited to be a part of this announcement at this time to permit this firm to broaden and to maintain providing good paying jobs right here in Prince Edward Island,” stated Gilles Arsenault, P.E.I.’s minister of financial growth, innovation and commerce.
MCT is an organization that develops and applies protecting metallic-ceramic coatings to be used within the industrial, army and industrial industries.
Based on Adam Casey, vp of operations, the funds will contribute to a 15,000-square-foot addition to deal with further coating machines.
The growth, stated Casey, will create round 20 new jobs at MCT.
“(Proper now), we’re sort of working at our capability,” he stated. “So, what it’ll do is give us further capability and permit us to develop an entire new coating to tackle a brand new market.”
