P.E.I. native Don McDougall among new members of the Order of Canada

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Don McDougall, proprietor of Mill River Resort in western Prince Edward Island is amongst 85 new appointees to the Order of Canada introduced on June 30.

In a information launch, the governor basic stated Don McDougall was made a member of the order “for his visionary management because the founding director of the Toronto Blue Jays membership, and for his entrepreneurship and philanthropy.”

The 85-year-old former president of Labatt’s was born and raised on the Island and now lives in Ebbsfleet, P.E.I.

In 2017, McDougall purchased the Mill River Resort from the provincial authorities.

He added the Eagles Glenn of Cavendish golf course to his holdings this previous March.

For his contributions to the creation of the Blue Jays, McDougall was inducted within the builder class into the Canadian Baseball Corridor of Fame and Museum in 2002.

McDougall shall be invested within the Order of Canada at a ceremony later this 12 months.
