P.E.I. former MLA Jim Larkin dies at 77

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Jim Larkin, the previous MLA representing sixth Queens, has handed away on the age of 77.
A graduate of the College of Prince Edward Island, Larkin labored with the P.E.I. Federation of Municipalities and the Tourism Trade Affiliation of P.E.I. earlier than coming into politics.
He served as an MLA for sixth Queens from 1979 to 1982 as a member of the governments of the late J. Angus MacLean and the late Jim Lee.
Following his time in politics, Larkin was the operator of MacKinnon’s Lobster on the Wharf restaurant on the Charlottetown waterfront for a few years. His efforts in constructing the tourism trade earned him the Premier’s Award for Tourism in 2004 in recognition of his management.
He additionally served because the chair of the Charlottetown Space Growth Company and was energetic within the ongoing redevelopment of the Charlottetown waterfront.
Premier Dennis King stated Larkin “contributed to the event of his neighborhood in some ways all through his life.”
“Jim’s kindness, friendship and mentorship was felt over time by his household, mates and employees. His loss is felt by many however most of all by his beloved household,” stated King. “My condolences exit to Helen, his kids Kelly, Corinne, and Steven, and their grandchildren on their loss.”
