Obituary: Myrtle M. McKenna – Lewiston Sun Journal

BIDDEFORD – Myrtle McKenna handed away peacefully in Biddeford on Dec. 1, 2022 on the age of 98 together with her daughter by her aspect. She was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada on Oct. 12, 1924, daughter of Peter Costello and Margaret (Quinn) Costello of Emyvale and Charlottetown P.E.I.

Myrtle was educated in PEI colleges and Prince of Wales Faculty in Charlottetown the place she earned her academics license. After school she entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in Montreal, Canada. A number of years later she returned to secular life and taught faculty for a variety of years.

She married Patrick McKenna on Nov. 22, 1950. Pat handed away on Nov. 3, 2000 after virtually 50 years of marriage.

Myrtle was a devoted communicant of St. Athanasius/ St. John’s Catholic Church now often known as the Parish of the Holy Savior. She volunteered at Holy Savior faculty library and the church bingo video games.

She was a keep at house mother till her youngsters had been at school after which labored on the Mammoth Mart and the Rumford Group Hospital till her retirement in 1982.

She was an lively member of the Rumford Historic Society and a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Saint Timothy Circle, No. 504.

She loved studying, music and touring, particularly her summer time visits to PEI together with her household. In 2010, Myrtle was named the City of Rumford’s Citizen of the Yr.

Survivors embrace her sons, George of Gordonsville, Va., Leonard and spouse Connie of Rumford, Michael and spouse Tanya of Dixfield, and daughter Barbara and accomplice Brenda Holbrook of Lyman; grandsons Kyle McKenna of Midlothian, Va., Jared McKenna of Portland; and lots of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; dad and mom; sister Catherine (Kaye) Bradley and child sister Florence.

Non-public funeral providers shall be held at a later date with interment in St. John’s cemetery.
