Militiamen kill 12 in east Congo village raid

BENI, Democratic Republic of Congo (Reuters) – Militiamen killed 12 folks in an evening raid on a village in jap Democratic Republic of Congo close to the shore of Lake Albert, a neighborhood human rights group stated on Tuesday.

The group and a military spokesman blamed the assault on CODECO, certainly one of many militias working in Congo’s conflict-ridden east.

CODECO’s fighters are drawn primarily from the Lendu farming neighborhood, which has lengthy been in battle with Hema herders. The group couldn’t be reached for remark.
