CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — An area charity golf event has raised over $1 million in cumulative funds for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown.

The 2023 installment of the Harry MacLauchlan Nice Day Fore Well being Memorial Golf Match raised over $60,000 in the course of the event held on the Belvedere Golf Membership on June 14, bringing the event’s cumulative fundraising complete to over $1 million over its 20 yr historical past.

Celebrations have been lower brief throughout this yr’s event attributable to thunder and lightning.

The event, hosted by the Rotary Membership of Charlottetown Royal, is a legacy occasion in celebration of the lifetime of Harry MacLauchlan, a businessman who was well-known for maintaining positivity along with his signature greeting, “It’s a fantastic day!”

A crimson maple tree was planted on the course’s first gap to honour MacLauchlan’s legacy and commemorate the success of the event.

It’s the first tree to be replanted for the reason that course misplaced greater than 2,000 timber to post-tropical storm Fiona.
