A number of photographs taken in Cairo through the COVID pandemic by photographer Jonathan Jasberg. The title of the mission, “Cairo: A Lovely Factor Is By no means Excellent,” comes from an historic Egyptian proverb. The sequence goals to displays candid moments of a sprawling metropolis usually considered as harmful and hectic:

“Early on in my time in Cairo, as I used to be photographing in a neighborhood that seldom sees foreigners, an older man stopped me and requested why I used to be taking pictures. In awe of the aged structure and vivid life I used to be observing, I motioned and responded: ‘take a look at it, it’s stunning!’ The person appeared, appeared again at me, and in a confused and considerably irritated method responded: ‘Lovely? It’s an outdated mess’, as he walked on.”

Whereas vacationers usually skip by means of the town with only a cease on the pyramids and first museums, Jasberg goals to seize the attractive moments of every day life which can be missed by outsiders and, maybe, so acquainted they turn into invisible to those that have lived there for a very long time.
