Hamilton’s libraries and museums extend partnership into 2024 – Hamilton
A pilot program enabling library card holders to entry Hamilton’s eight civic museums free-of-charge has been prolonged for an additional two years.
The venture was launched in 2019, however workers say they’ve been unable to gauge the influence due to facility closures over the previous two years, associated to COVID.

Paul Takala, Hamilton’s head librarian, says there have been some optimistic early returns previous to the beginning of the pandemic.
“There have been a variety of nice tales that we heard from workers”, says Takala, “for instance, a younger boy bringing in his grandfather. They had been new Canadians, and eager to get the grandfather signed up for a library card so they may go to the museums collectively.”

“It’s all about entry to tradition”, provides Takala, “as a result of all of us profit when our residents be taught extra about our tradition, our historical past.”
The pilot program is now scheduled to run by way of March 2024.
