Germany approves sale of 100 howitzers to Ukraine – Spiegel

BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany has permitted the sale of 100 tank howitzers value 1.7 billion euros to Ukraine, journal Der Spiegel reported, citing a spokesperson for producer Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW).
KMW has already began manufacturing the howitzers, the Panzerhaubitze 2000 mannequin, the complete run of which which can take a number of years to finish, Spiegel mentioned. It added that it was not but clear when the primary of the howitzers may very well be delivered.
Ukraine has pleaded for the West to ship extra and higher artillery because the nation runs out of ammunition for its current Soviet-era arsenal, which is dwarfed by Russia’s.
