Fire that destroyed Cap-Pelé restaurant deemed suspicious as RCMP investigate string of fires – New Brunswick
RCMP in New Brunswick have confirmed a fireplace at a seafood restaurant in Cap-Pelé over the weekend was suspicious, and say investigators are attempting to see if the blaze is linked to a string of suspicious fires of their Southeast District.
The hearth at Chez Camille Take Out on Acadia Avenue destroyed the constructing within the early morning hours of April 24. No one was inside on the time.
Police stated Thursday the investigation has deemed the hearth to be suspicious in nature, and they’re nonetheless investigating the trigger.

In a information launch, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Hans Ouellette stated police are conscious that some residents are involved following “many constructing fires within the space” over the previous couple of years.
“Every investigation takes time and is investigated completely. Since 2019, a number of arrests have been made in relation to those fires whereas others stay below investigation,” Ouellette stated.
