EU Commission seeking info from former EU digital chief Kroes on Uber

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Fee has requested former EU digital chief Nellie Kroes for extra info on her alleged involvement in lobbying for U.S. ride-hailing app Uber, a Fee spokesperson stated on Monday.

The Worldwide Consortium of Investigative Journalists and a number of media, citing leaked paperwork, stated Uber broke legal guidelines, duped police and constructed a secret lobbying operation concentrating on outstanding policymakers and politicians.

Uber has denied the allegations. Kroes served as European Commissioner from 2004 to 2014, first as EU antitrust chief and subsequently as digital chief.
