For Paterson, New Jersey-based artist Dominic Musa, portray is a way of reflection, permitting him to float via unanswerable questions. He constructs his scenes out of issues remembered, photographed, drawn, and painted—the ultimate photographs strolling the road between abstraction and illustration. He elaborates: “Usually the figures in my work are pulled from moments instantly noticed or skilled – a person strolling down the road, three males chasing a ram that escaped from the slaughterhouse, buddies gathered in entrance of the nice falls – all moments of connection, happenstance, or intentional.
