SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Physician shortages dominated the dialog on the April 26 Mayor’s City Corridor.

At 7 p.m., dozens of Summerside residents crammed the Veterans Conference Centre on the Credit score Union Place, keen to listen to what well being care staff and native politicians needed to say about well being care in Summerside and P.E.I.

Dr. Michael Gardam, CEO of Well being P.E.I., advised the group that physician shortages are one of many greatest points dealing with well being care.

Gardam stated that Well being P.E.I. hears from each physician who leaves the province. Many medical doctors, he stated, are leaving as a result of they’re rising drained as a result of lack of different medical doctors to help them.

The pandemic as effectively, added Gardam, served as a “last straw” for a lot of physicians throughout Canada.

Additionally in attendance have been representatives from the Prince County Hospital Basis, P.E.I.’s Minister of Well being and Wellness Mark McLane and Summerside Mayor Dan Kutcher.

Extra to return.
