Delays continue for fall lobster fishery off southern P.E.I.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Unfavourable climate forecasts proceed to push again the opening of the autumn lobster fishery off southern P.E.I. from its unique anticipated begin date of Wednesday, Aug. 9.
The fishery was delayed following climate convention calls with the Division of Fisheries and Oceans Tuesday and Wednesday.
One other name Thursday morning ended with no settlement on a Saturday launch.
There will probably be one other name at 9 a.m. Friday to assessment forecasts with representatives from P.E.I. and New Brunswick.
With the most recent delay, the P.E.I. Fishermen’s Affiliation stated the earliest the season might start can be Sunday or Monday.
