Dal Medicine’s alum of the year improves the lives of transplant patients worldwide – Dal News
The Dalhousie Medical Alumni Affiliation has introduced the recipients of its 2022 DMAA Alumni Recognition Awards — six deserving members of the alumni group, who can be honoured at a dinner on November 25, 2022.
“We’re thrilled to current the Alum of the 12 months Award to Dr. Robert Liwski (BSc ’94, PhD ’99, MD ’03), head of the Division of Hematopathology on the QEII Well being Sciences Heart, and a professor within the Division of Pathology at Dalhousie College,” says Dr. Cindy Forbes (MD ’85), president of the DMAA. “His work in discovering and implementing new applied sciences within the tissue-typing laboratory has improved the lives of transplant sufferers worldwide.”
As Director of the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Laboratory within the Division of Pathology and Laboratory Drugs on the QEII, Dr. Liwski has contributed enormously to optimizing the care of stable organ and bone marrow transplantation sufferers in Atlantic Canada.

From veterans to up-and-comers

The 2022 Household Doctor of the 12 months Award will go to Dr. Mary Frances Moriarty (MD ’77). Recognizing residents
