City of Kelowna seeking temporary workers for upcoming municipal election – Okanagan

With municipal elections slated to happen this fall, the Metropolis of Kelowna has put out a name for election staff.
The election will run on Oct. 15, although there might be superior voting on Oct. 5, 8, 12, 13 and 14.
In preparation for that, town says it’s seeking to rent round 300 staff to help with voting.

“Whereas polls might be open from 8 a.m. to eight p.m., election workers will work full days from as early as 7 a.m. and as much as 9:30 p.m.,” stated town.
“It’s anticipated workers stay on the voting location for the complete length of their shift, with breaks scheduled in the course of the day.”
The town says it will likely be hiring three positions: Election officers, presiding election officers and alternate presiding election officers.
A compulsory coaching session might be offered for all jobs. Pay for the coaching classes is constructed into the day by day price of pay for every place.

Election official
- No prior election expertise is required.
- The position entails registering voters, distributing ballots and organising and cleansing up the voting location.
- Shifts are 7:30 a.m. to eight:30 p.m.

Alternate presiding election official
- Prior election expertise is required.
- The position entails supporting election officers, registering non-resident property electors, taking care of poll accounting, monitoring and directing voter strains and offering directions on how you can use the voting machine.
- Shifts are 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- The day by day price of pay is $370.
Presiding election official
- Prior election expertise is required.

- Shifts are 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The town says applications are being accepted online, and that the deadline to use is Tuesday, Aug. 16.
