Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes leads ‘choir huddle’ as a tribute to late Len Dawson

Two quarterbacks have gained a Tremendous Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs. On Thursday evening Patrick Mahomes honored the primary quarterback to do it, the late Len Dawson.

Dawson, who gained Tremendous Bowl IV MVP, died at age 87 this week. Mahomes did not play within the Chiefs’ preseason sport on Thursday, however he did take the sector to guide a tribute to Dawson.

The Chiefs lined up within the “choir huddle,” with the quarterback going through all 10 teammates, in two rows of 5. The choir huddle is a permanent picture of Dawson and his crew from Tremendous Bowl IV. The Chiefs took a delay of sport penalty, and Mahomes left the sector urging the group to get even louder because it cheered.

The Packers declined the penalty.

“All of us needed to do one thing,” Mahomes mentioned throughout a sideline interview on the Chiefs’ broadcast. “I feel Clark [Hunt, Chiefs CEO] and Coach [Andy] Reid talked about it and got here up with the concept. Clearly we’re praying for his household. However he did a lot to influence the Kansas Metropolis group and this group, we needed to do one thing, a bit token to indicate our appreciation. I am glad we received to do it right here at Arrowhead.”

There have been loads of tributes to Dawson, an enormous determine within the Chiefs group. The crew will put on helmet decals this season with Dawson’s No. 16.

Mahomes doing the choir huddle after the concept was hatched was an excellent tribute, exhibiting an appreciation for a Corridor of Fame legend who continues to be synonymous with the Chiefs franchise.

“As a participant, he was the man that received the Kansas Metropolis Chiefs going,” Mahomes mentioned. “He was a part of an excellent group that made the Chiefs who they’re right this moment.”
