Charlottetown police considering options to deal with ‘tent city’

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown Police Providers is contemplating choices relating to coping with people who find themselves tenting outdoors within the metropolis.

At a gathering of the protecting and emergency providers committee assembly on July 26, Jennifer McCarron, deputy chief, stated her division is awaiting a report an organization is doing for Halifax Regional Police to see what choices might exist within the P.E.I. capital.

McCarron instructed the committee that individuals are tenting outdoors over by the Maritime Electrical property on Cumberland Road and behind a church chapel on Mount Edward Highway, referring to it because the “tent metropolis problem.”

McCarron stated some residents have complained about rubbish and different belongings being left behind because the group of tenters transfer to different components of town. Prior to now couple of months, council has handed not less than one decision to scrub up a property on the expense of taxpayers.
