Charlottetown holds the line on tax rates in 2022-23 budget

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Tax charges are holding regular for enterprise and property homeowners in Charlottetown in 2022-23, however residents will see a rise within the metropolis’s water and sewer charges.

In a March 31 launch, the Metropolis of Charlottetown mentioned council accredited a balanced finances together with a $66.5 million metropolis operational finances and a $15 million water and sewer utility operational finances throughout a particular council assembly.

Water and sewer charges are rising by 5.1 per cent which town mentioned is “to take care of the protected and efficient supply of providers {that a} rising metropolis requires.”

The town highlighted $15.5 million in public works spending and $15.6 million for protecting providers.

Charlottetown may even spend $4.3 million on parks and recreation, $1.8 million on public transit and $1.7 million on metropolis planning.
