Lovett cruises through qualifying to begin quest for high jump medal

EUGENE, Ore. – Canada’s Django Lovett was flawless in males’s excessive bounce qualifying on Friday to start his quest for a medal on the world monitor and area championships.

The 30-year-old from Surrey, B.C., cleared a season’s finest 2.28 metres on his first try to clinch his spot in Monday’s remaining.

He was considered one of simply six jumpers who made that top on their first try.

Lovett completed eighth in his Olympic debut in Tokyo final summer season.

The 2018 Commonwealth Video games bronze medallist gained the Birmingham Diamond League meet in Might.

Canada has 59 athletes competing on the championships, the world’s third largest sporting occasion behind the Olympics and the World Cup, at Hayward Subject.

Camryn Rogers (hammer throw) and Sarah Mitton (shot put) had qualifying rounds on Friday, whereas dash star Andre De Grasse was set to race the 100-metre heats in Friday’s night session. De Grasse hasn’t raced since contracting COVID-19 a few month in the past.
