“Border Lord” by Photographer Matthew Reamer

Photographer and Director Matthew Reamer’s “Border Lord” is an ongoing remark of life in California’s Imperial County – a swath of irrigated desert within the state’s Southeast, flanked to the North by the environmental disaster that’s the Salton Sea, and to the South by the towering new US/Mexico border wall.

The mission started as a brief time period task in success of a grant from Obscura DAO, a serious participant within the pictures NFT house, by which ten photographers had been tasked to interpret the theme “Two Years After the Storm.”

Huge and monotonous, Border Lord, and the realm it seeks to know, is a research in contradictions — of hope and despair, capturing a spot the place many come to hunt alternative and others discover it to be conspicuously absent.

Reamer’s work casts a large web on the realm, turning his lens on the area’s surveillance infrastructure, kids and youngsters, farmers and agricultural staff,  septuagenarian snowbirds escaping the northern winter to soak in concrete, freeway adjoining sizzling springs, proof of border crossing exercise and fixed reminders that the journey North too typically ends in dying.
