Calgary teen arrested for ‘terrorism-related offences’
A 15-year-old was arrested in Calgary for “terrorism-related offences” as a part of an ongoing RCMP Nationwide Safety investigation.
The youth, whose identify was not launched because of the Youth Legal Justice Act, is the third to be arrested within the Calgary-based investigation, with one other teenager and a 20-year-old arrested beforehand.
Alberta RCMP issued a press launch Friday morning stating the arrest was made one week prior, on October 13, by the RCMP Federal Policing Built-in Nationwide Safety Enforcement Group (INSET) in Alberta and the Calgary Police Service (CPS).
The person was launched “on a Recognizance with a variety of situations pending the end result of a Terrorism Peace Bond utility initiated below s. 810.011 of the Legal Code,” the RCMP mentioned.
The defendant will seem in Calgary Provincial Courtroom on November 6, 2023.

On June 15, a youth was arrested “in relation to terrorism offences throughout an RCMP Federal Policing investigation.
The person appeared in court docket below the Concern of Terrorism offence within the Legal Code.
“The youth was launched from custody pending a future court docket look and is topic to a variety of strict situations,” the RCMP mentioned.
The identical day a 20-year-old was arrested for 4 terrorism-related prices, two counts of facilitating terrorist exercise, and two for taking part in or contributing to terrorist exercise below the Legal Code.
