Argentine authorities impound Venezuelan aircraft, Iranian state media say

DUBAI (Reuters) -Iranian state media stated on Sunday that Argentinian authorities have impounded a Boeing 747 airplane that the unique proprietor, Iran’s Mahan Air, stated was offered to a Venezuelan airline a 12 months in the past.

There was no official affirmation of the stories.

“The possession of the plane was transferred a 12 months in the past and it was offered to a Venezuelan firm,” Mahan’s spokesperson Amir Hossein Zolanvari informed the official information company IRNA. Zolanvari didn’t title the Venezuelan firm.

It was not instantly clear if the airplane was on a listing of Iranian plane beneath U.S. sanctions. Mahan Air has been beneath U.S sanctions since 2011 for its help for Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards.

Iran and Venezuela, that are each beneath U.S. sanctions, have shut ties. The 2 nations on Saturday signed a 20-year cooperation plan.
