A House of Crimson Steel Vines Harbors Memory and Mourning in Wuhan Shimenfeng Memorial Park

Rambling, weathered ivy constructs the partitions of a house positioned among the many quiet, serene cemetery of Wuhan Shimenfeng Memorial Park. The venture of designer Hu Quanchun of Field Conforming Studio, “The Vanished Home” elicits the act of remembering in a public house dedicated to mourning and reminiscences. Rigidity between the enduring and transitory pervades the architectural work, proven by the mix of the sturdy materials and open roof that seems to fade across the perimeter.
In a statement in regards to the memorializing venture, the studio likens the construction to that of a kid’s sketch, explaining that the easy design attracts consideration to the sprawling vegetal varieties laser minimize from sheets of Corten metal. Over time, the crimson materials will age with rain and solar, and its rusted coloration will stand in starker distinction to the inexperienced atmosphere.
