Marathon announces new construction, engineering partnerships for central Newfoundland gold mine

MARYSTOWN, N.L. — Marathon Gold is saying new partnerships for engineering and building planning on the firm’s open-pit gold mine in central Newfoundland because it waits for ultimate venture approvals from the federal environmental regulator.

The gold firm introduced Tuesday it signed a letter of intent with SNC-Lavalin to finish engineering providers for the Valentine Gold project close to Buchans. 

Marathon mentioned in a information launch that SNC-Lavalin will provide engineering providers for a mill and different services, in addition to growing different associated tools and building packages.

The gold firm can be partnering with Progesys Inc. to develop a building administration staff.

Progesys will present venture administration, constructing building and venture management providers. In the meantime, Marathon will assume duty for civil building, contracts and procurement, camp providers and the location’s well being, security and environmental compliance.

At the moment, the gold firm is hoping to get approval from the federal Influence Evaluation Company to maneuver forward with the venture.

A draft environmental assessment has been issued by the regulator and is out there for public overview.
